What we've learned

One more day to go.  The last three days are long boring drives through Utah, Nevada and California to get us home by Friday night.   Since there isn't much to blog about, each of us made a list of the "top ten" observations or things we learned on the trip:

Lenny’s Top Ten
1.  Fishing is an amusement; don’t depend on it for dinner.
2.  RV Commandment #3: Thou Shalt Not Delay Emptying the Holding Tanks.
3.  Unless you really like country music, satellite radio is a must.
4.  Oil is not made from dead dinosaurs.
5.  Size matters for RVs, too: bigger is better.
6.  A pay phone is some people’s idea of an internet connection.
7.  There are many beautiful places throughout this country -- except in Nevada
8.  Bison and bear always have the right-of-way.
9.  RVing and camping have little in common.
10.  An unhappy wife trumps a nice campground.

Donna’s Top Ten
1.  They do a lot of road work in Wyoming.
2.  The red lines vs. the grey lines on the AAA maps don’t necessarily mean anything.
3.  There is a Pioneer Museum in every small town in the west.
4.  This country sure is big.
5.  Sea level does not exist except for in California.
6.  I-80 sure is long.
7.  Some RVs actually are mobile cities.
8.  The size of the RV bears a direct relationship to the size of the RV’s driver.
9.  There are no Sprint cell sites between San Francisco and Chicago except in Wendover, Nevada.
10.  There are no Starbucks between San Francisco and Chicago.

Marina’s Top Twelve
1.  Not to run in a parking lot
2.  Why forts were made
3.  Why not to touch the walls of caves
4.  Crazy Horse is the biggest sculpture in the world
5.  How we get oil
6.  How oil is made
7.  Where we get coal from and how
8.  How lava rocks were formed
9.  Not to sing the song mom hates
10.  To be patient on road trips
11,  To not make calls when roaming
12.  Vacations are relaxing not to be working
